Did geneaology about 10 yrs ago.

Knew 75% of my Dad's side: They came from #Wasserloss and #Alzenau #Germany in the 1880s.
Settled in central IL. Dairy farmers.

I have a family photo from that time and even though its a b&w photo it always struck me at how dark complected some of my relatives were. And I see it in my Dad and his siblings. Olive skin. Dark brown hair

Heard the term "black dutch" yesterday for the first time and I am wondering if it applies.
