I’ve #read Scandal by Amanda Quick (2009) in #audiobook. It’s a standalone historical #regency #romance with a fab FMC, + a MMC who could have passed as a modern Dom if Quick had wanted. Wonderful character development and a solid plot with the MMC maturing under his wife’s influences. I am always interested in second marriage #books, particularly widows/widowers. #Watchareading I've jumped into the translation of Heaven Official's Blessing, published by Seven Seas.

A big disadvantage of the Seven Seas books is that they're really heavy. And if you enjoy reading in bed and your grip slips and the book falls onto your face... Ouch!

Another vacation #read was Space Fighter’s Mate by Lynnea Lee (#book 4 in Tallean Mates series, which follows a different series in the same universe). This is a short alien #romance for a post-enslaved human female who needs rescued again from space pirates. Predictable but endearing. #books #reading #bookstodon

Got the first 2 vols of the comic book ed. of Heaven Official's Blessing in Chinese and am happy to report that I was able to read three (3) Chinese words on the first few pages (and "This is…" on the wrapper). (Yay me!)

The illustrations are beautiful, and the books came with extra goodies: bookmarks, stickers, character art, a little plastic standee of the two MCs sitting in front of the ramshackle shriney doing laundry. And a face mask. (I've got no idea why the face mask.)

@willaful @romancelandia I loved, loved, loved the animated series of Heaven Official's Blessing, so I got all the books and have started to read the novel. I adore the two MCs, but I'm bit on the fence about the style / text itself. I'm not quite sure whether that's due to the translation or whether the original text is really like that (stylistic breaks, characters using somewhat weird expressions that don't quite fit the setting / the story)

I listened to A Rose In Winter (1981) by Kathleen Woodiwiss, who “pioneered” epic #historical #romance #books with detailed sex scenes (Wiki). Avon has recently published a 22hr #audiobook. It begins with an apology for the toxic masculinity & sexual assaults in Woodiwiss’ writing. It is a plot device that sets up a redemption arc but some of it is hard now. #WatchaReading #romancelandia I spent a full day flying this week & in airports so I finished several #books. One was Asia’s Fate by Miranda Martin, a novella in the Red Jungle Planet series. As usual for this iteration of the Red Planet Tajss tales, Asia has to be rescued by her alien dragon-man hero, who also captured her. I recommend starting earlier in Miranda Martin’s Tajss universe before trying this series. #romance #bookstodon #reading #book

This 12th #book in the Immortal Guardians series is also the 12th time the immortals have saved humanity from ourselves, but it’s well-written so I’ll just keep reading her #books. She says it’s a standalone #paranormal #romance but it makes more sense in the context of the other 11 and 5-6 related ones.
