30 minute delay between #WatchDuty notification of possible evacuations on the fire in Lower Lake, California vs. WEA. Proof of the usefulness of having a team of volunteers listening to fires... that's a 30 minute heads up.

According to #WatchDuty app, the bit of haze moving over Monterey is due to a small #wildfire in S. #Watsonville, which however, has prompted some evacuations.

I would rather know about every wildfire sooner, and take my own chosen actions sooner. To use it, you have to choose your alert counties.

Damn. My “Watch Duty” app is going nuts with notifications today. There are like 50 or more #Wildfires burning around us on almost all sides. Still well away from the populated #RogueValley center along the I-5, but filling the air with smoke and keeping the tankers flying continuous loops (until the visibility stops them). Tanker base is just ten minutes from me, so we hear them overhead. I hope we get some significant moisture (and no more lightening) from the remnants of TS Hillary. The number of wildfires burning out of control in Northern California and Oregon, as shown on the Watch Duty app, is astounding. The fire is near Medical Lake in Spokane County, Washington. It's near the Idaho Pan Handle, so pretty far north.
