Leaving Watendlath, and walking Northwards down the valley, toward Derwentwater and ultimately Keswick.
Some of the grassed areas are left to grow longer, with wildflowers given free rein (last pic).
The river winds back and forth along the valley, and dry stone walls mark the field boundaries.

One of those beautiful stone-built bridges you get in the Lakes. If you cross it, you're at the Watendlath farm itself (run by the National Trust. You can stay there, apparently - but we didn't).
After crossing the bridge we sat down for some lunch, and were visited by the chaffinch. Looks like it feeds well from walker's lunchtime crumbs!
