En 2015, un ouvrier de 25 ans à qui sont chef avait refusé une "pause hydratation" par une chaleur de 37° à l'ombre, est décédé d'une crise cardiaque après une journée de 10h à poser des parquets en intérieur..

Le cas fut médiatisé, et depuis 2015, la plupart des villes texanes se sont dotées d'une législation imposant des pauses-hydratation toutes les heures.

Trop "protecteur" pour les ouvriers et trop coûteux pour les entreprises, ainsi en a décidé le gouverneur d'extrème-droite du Texas, Greg #abbott.

Depuis le 23 juin dernier, il a signé une ordonnance qui permet aux patrons de s'exonérer de ces pauses.

"“Rest and water breaks are not a luxury. They’re basic workers rights. That’s especially true as our climate crisis makes already hot days more extreme,” said Analilia Mejia, executive director of the Center for Popular Democracy, one of the groups participating in Casar’s protest.

“What Governor Abbott is doing is inhuman, cruel, and it will kill people,” she said.

I propose a new religious ceremony that must be performed anytime the devotee is engaged in labor for hire:

Once an hour for a period of 5 minutes, or once every two hours for a period of 15 minutes, with a few exceptions, work will stop and the devotee will perform one or more of the following activities in honor of their self and their religion.

1. Go to the bathroom
2. Get a drink
3. Take a walk
4. Sit, rest, and/or meditate
5. Connect with their community
