I was going to do a quick sketch for #WatercolourChallenge.

But this Moleskine "Watercolour" Notebook is shocking. It's impossible to put a wash on. The red should've covered the whole rectangle, but it literally beads up. The other colours ought to be smooth washes, but you seem to have to "push" the paint into the paper, meaning you're overworking everything and not evenly covering anything. Awful. Sadly, I bought three some time ago.

Better late than never, but at the end of this long (but still too short) weekend I finally managed to get some watercolors down... the page has some more sketches with light washes but those are for another day.

@robphippen Go for it! It’s not for everyone, I do it because otherwise I’d take ages doing a sketch I’m not happy with, then when I am I’d probably mess up the watercolour.
I know I need to practice sketching, but sometimes I want to paint so I avoid the block. When I do a full painting the drawing can take me longer than the painting.
If the orthodoxy of something doesn’t suit, do what does, or at least do what you enjoy. Have a go at the #WatercolourChallenge it’s quick, fun, liberating.

Please do - even if it’s a 1 minute sketch and 1 minute splashing on your favourite colours.
Personally, I’ve never done a 1 minute sketch, so that’s my challenge.

Using #CuratorPrompts148 or #MapCrunch15, do a quick sketch in 1, 3, 5 minutes or however long you want. Add some watercolour, take as long or little or as you want. Abstract, realistic, slapped on… whatever. Just have fun.
