Overnight visitor at the mooring point in front of Rock House outside Helvick Pier.
The Lady Belle, a 12m Irish registered yacht.
I just saw a huge black dragonfly flying about the garden here. I’ve never seen a dragonfly or damselfly here before. We get plenty of butterflies, moths, and grasshoppers but I’ve never seen one of these here before.
It was very large with green or yellow patches on its body. Definitely much bigger than the common iridescent blue ones I sometime see at it hiking. 8 maybe even 10 cm long. It’s abdomen was quite bulky too.
No chance of getting a picture sadly.
On the 9 September 1845 the Dublin Evening Post officially reported that the Potato Blight had arrived in Ireland. The disease had previously been reported in Belgium, but this was the first time that it had been spotted in Ireland. It is thought that the first outbreak of Blight may have occurred in Waterford, though there is no concrete proof that it had not previously been unreported elsewhere.

24° inside, 20° outside and Dungarvan Bay is like glass.
Some thin clouds are moving in though so I reckon today is a very good day to tidy up the garden a bit.
Such a downgrade on yesterday. #Waterford #CopperCoast #Ireland

Union wine bar and kitchen on the Mall in #waterford is epic.
Was there last night. Best meal I’ve had in a long time. Terrific food and generous portions. It ain’t for free, but it’s good value.
The view over the bay from my bedroom window, on a very glorious evening #Waterford #coppercoast #ireland

An alright view out my front door, I suppose.
(utterly glorious here today - why couldn't the rest of the summer be this lovely?)

Mini-Holiday day 4. Some new* Waterford Walls murals by Dan Kitchener at the FitzWilliam Hotel near the Waterford Distillery.
*New to me at any rate.

There was a lovely golden sunset out over Dungarvan bay this evening.
The last section of the Waterford greenway (Bilberry to city centre) is finally open! 🍾 🎉
There is zero fanfare. Why? Because the official opening was in June when the *road* beside it was reopened. #waterford #greenway #cycling
Out exploring today I found this cave...only accessible at low tide, but not quite wide enough for my boat to get through! #waterford
Some moonshots on Day 2 of my mini-holiday break.
First blue moon photos for me I think. One of my best shots of the moon with this camera (Nikon D5300) and lens ( Nikon 18-300mm zoom at full zoom).
The clouds looked bad but finally parted to give me a decent shot. It’s a little past ‘full’ but I prefer how that works with the shadows.

I need to share this about the number of TDs in Waterford, where I'm from and call home.

On this day in 1737, Ann Kinneer Lumley died aged 30. The Journals show the inscription on her gravestone at Waterford Cathedral and blazon the coats of arms that are carved on it: https://bit.ly/lumley1737
