The grand entrance to the former La Scala cinema on Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow. This building was originally a warehouse, but like a surprsingly large number of other buildings on the same street, it was converted into a cinema at the start of the 20th Century. It opened in 1912 and closed in 1984. It has been home to a Waterstones bookshop since the 1990s.

Been in four different #waterstones over the last few weeks and not one of the cafes has Tunnocks tea cakes any more. "Been changes" said the guy in Cirencester, darkly. There's a story there I'm sure. Maybe they're being pressured by the mob. or fallen foul of 'Big Teacake'...

Since we all enjoying the grand #TNG send-off of #PicardSeason3, I am again thinking about that time my local #Waterstones bookstore held a #StarTrek Day and showed #AllGoodThings on a big screen when it had just been released in the States. None of us had seen any of Season 7 as it hadn't launched in the UK yet (unless you were one of those posh kids who already had Sky 😂)

But oh boy, what memories!

Linda Green’s new novel arose from the racial abuse and hatred she observed after the EU referendum. It’s a Romeo and Juliet for our times. She'll be launching it 6.30pm today at Waterstones in Leeds!

#Waterstones on Gower Street in #London is particularly nice. Four floors of an absolute book heaven, very friendly staff, a small records department... and I found the photography instruction book I borrowed from the library some time ago! Of course I had to snag it.
