Měl jsem dnes trochu nostalgickou náladu a zašel na starý web ICQ. Narazil jsem tam na věc, na kterou jsem ze svého dětství zapomněl a to sice na Zlango a příjde mi to vlastně jako docela cool koncept. 😃

I have some #twitter accounts that I regret. I recently archived all of them this year through data takeout, but I feel the #WayBackMachine should crawl them soon, before they get permanently deleted (it is a ticking time bomb situation, but the bomb has a timer that cannot be read) Does anybody know if this is possible/feasible? I have tried in the past, but the Wayback Machine gave me an error.

The #NewYorkTimes has blocked #OpenAI’s #webcrawler, meaning that OpenAI can’t use content from the publication to train its AI models. If you check the NYT’s robots.txt page, you can see that the NYT disallows #GPTBot, the crawler that OpenAI introduced earlier this month. Although in principle it wouldn’t be a big effort as the #deCloudflare / karma project produced a tool that automatically finds the last non-403’d archive in the #WaybackMachine :)

I bring you yet another ironic display of #hypocrisy. The UN’s Universal Declaration of #humanRights has recently become an access-restricted document. If you are in the excluded group you get a #403forbidden error. And worse, if you try to fetch a copy using the #WaybackMachine, /everyone/ gets to see a copy of the 403 error instead of the human rights declaration because the #UN is blocking the #InternetArchive (effectively, the UN has become anti-Library).

The #question remains however:

"How does the #waybackmachine / #wayback / #archiveorg " save #youtube #videos ?

They do need to use an #api key too

And those are obviously #ratelimited
That'd explain why some videos get #backed up and others #dont

Imagine the #gigantic #cue they have !

Messing around with the #WaybackMachine and found my old website that I used to host pictures. Sitting there was a screenshot of my old #Linux desktop from the early 2000s. The #KDE theme I was using at the time was, ahem, certainly colorful. 😂

Pretty pumped that I was able to set up a self-hosted (#FOSS) app called #Linkace on my domain.

The creator is @Kovah

Now I can archive the best-of-the-best links I find.
Linkace will backup my links to The #WaybackMachine via #InternetArchive
It will also check for broken links or missing webpages.
I can set links to be private or public. Visitors can share links via popular apps - like Mastodon!

When I get a decent library put together, I will share my Linkace site here.
