Ok. I have #NixOs :nixos: installed and running, I have #Hyprland running and launching #foot just fine, and I have gotten #Waybar up and running, though without the fonts I need, so the symbols don’t work. I really appreciate apps that will load a default or example config file in the right directory and I really don’t appreciate programs that stick it somewhere on GitHub. It’s time to go to work, I’ll see you tonight Nix. #AdventuresInNix

Just pushed an updated version of my #nixos #homemanager configuration that I'm running on my #thinkpad
Still loving the #hyprland #waybar combo, which of course runs beautifully now on NixOS thanks to the upstreamed updates...check it out if you're curious!!! 🤘 :nixos: #development #nix

With the help of #gentoo forum now few words about running gui-apps/waybar-0.9.19
You should add dbus to the default run level
https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/D-Bus#OpenRC
Maybe i should start contributing to wiki. And to be honest i didn't know about system bus 😂

Right now we're cooking !
I've canned #Waybar and have successfully gotten #Yambar configured and running via #Kanshi . This allows me to undock my laptop and Kanshi will run my script that counts how many screens are connected and kills or starts the relevant Yambar on each screen.
Now to start customising the bar to my liking and maybe witting another couple of scripts for it too.

So, they changed window.empty and added nice changes to #hyprland
It was my fault, and i adopted style.css - this change is actually nice

Now this 'Can't resolve nl80211 interface' ...
With void and arch. The xdg-desktop-portal-wlr package slow down my other apps from loading for the first time. Waybar, Firefox, Virt-manager takes about 10 to 15 seconds to load with the xdg-desktop-portal installed. I was able to find a work around for it. On Arch I uninstall xdg-desktop-portal-wlr. I was able to use libxdg-basedir for virt-manager and wireplumber for pipwire.

man i really wanna try out #hyprland. i'm already used to tiling since i got my feet with with bismuth on KDE, but i want something that's far less buggy and hyprland looks pretty. bismuth regularly fails to capture windows for tiling and leave a flaoting window I gotta alt tab to to close and try again until it starts tiling.
i'd also like to fuck around with #waybar or something. my current setup is like 85% perfect on KDE but i want the window title and window app menu on the left and application icons, system tray, and ideally clickable minimize/close buttons in the top right, and KDE's application buttons resize and bug out if they're positioned on the same panel as a lengthy app menu. idea is to have everything in that one bar so i don't need window titles or a dock or a second panel, just maximum screen space to hold far too many windows.
In my #waybar config I have a custom/bg element I've added. It's just an icon with an on-click event that runs a bash script to randomly select a new background from a directory and apply it. It mostly seems to work fine except once I click it the first time, the script will run again if I click anywhere else on the waybar. The only way I can seem to get it to stop running when I click other places on the bar is to reload the waybar config. Strange. Any of y'all ever see this?

My brain: Wait, you idiot, you have an #archlinux container in #silverblue. You could just build #waybar in Arch and run it from the container to get the updated packages.
