Currently bouncing back and forth between two different books, one hardcover and one digital book. I like them both, but I keep getting interrupted when I sit down and open The Secret Book of Flora Lea. For that reason, I’m further along in The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet.

@garland I loved it. I recommended it to a friend who loved Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars trilogy about terraforming. Similar logical science based focus albeit at a much smaller scale ... and so human centered. ❤️ Sadder though, than #BeckyChambers #Wayfarers series.

#Books update. I gave 5 ⭐ to Fierce Hope: Youth Activism in Aotearoa - a good read for NZers interested in communities or activism or the future. @bookstodon Just finished The Best Thing You Can Steal by Simon R Green. Not as good as his Nightside books but OK. 1st in a new series.

Next up is a stand alone SF book from #BeckyChambers, "To Be Taught if Fortunate". I found a home in her #Wayfarers books so I'm looking forward to this one.

I also recently finished reading Record of a Spaceborn Few by Becky Chambers, which is a delightful tale of humans living in a fleet of colony ships, focussed on a variety of characters at different stages of their lives, and thinking about how cultures grow, adapt, and interact. I really like this series of just-vaguely-connected novels, and find them incredibly relaxing to read.

I started reading the #Wayfarers series by Becky Chambers. So far I finished the first book “The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet” and it’s amazing. The fictional universe feels so alive with all the different species and their cultures and character backstories.

A really really great science-fiction novel with some thought-provoking ideas that are totally relevant for our modern-day but not-yet-interstellar society.

@baconandcoconut I haven't read it yet, but I picked up "Infinite Stars: Dark Frontiers" over the holiday, which includes a #Wayfarers story.

Just finished A Closed and Common Orbit by #BeckyChambers Book 2 of the #Wayfarers series but could easily be read as a stand alone novel.

It did take me a little while to get into but firmly captivated by the end. Weaving together dual storylines through alternate chapters Chambers explores the search for purpose in life and something that really resonates with the #LGBTQ community that family doesn’t always mean blood relatives.
