Are they really to blame? Which role plays a leadership that still believes tech only plays a subordinate supporting role and cannot see their business as a digital business and tech as an integral part of that business, therefore hires the cheapest disposable tech labour, unskilled unexperienced or with outdated skills and not equipped nor incentivised to change?

🧢 (thread 2/2)

Many others may not want to change but keep doing what they are already doing, using outdated practices from the '80s, barely imitating more modern practices while in essence still doing the same, working sequentially handing off tasks as in an assembly line, etc etc. Often they are those paid less, with less authority and experience

🧢 (thread 1/)
In terms of tech, collaboration and general work practices, the best time to do well is From the start, the 2nd best time is Now.

Some managers and team members already think there must be a better way and they are ready to start searching, learning new skills, replacing old habits with new ones and learning to stick to them even under stress and pressure.

Others won't lead the way but would follow after the former have succeeded.

Office day today getting a lot of different things out of the way.

I am still a work-in-progress of finding the most efficient way to organize myself.

Current tool mix is Things 3 for task management, Notion for notes and collaboration, Tiimo for small chores and reminders and of course the good ol' Office suite.

What about you?

Working in virtualized teams spreaded somewhere in the world ..

Since some years it had been getting a habit to create recordings if someone makes a shareout session. Sure, it is a good thing often.
But:
1) I have no time to search in a long video afterwards for detail Infos. Better (additional) written form
2) Often the real discussion and Q&A starts after the recording stopped. Some do not want to expose their real questions and concerns to the public.

Enjoyed the Waste Detectives by Brian Hooker and Richard Moir the curse of those waiting tasks in a sprint and how to deal with then will resonate with so many people I work with.

Looking for advice...

πŸ™…πŸ»β€β™€οΈ When you have stakeholders who don't understand design thinking, how do you approach that?

🀝 How do you help them understand the value of human-centered design?

πŸ’¬ What methods do you use to influence people so they appreciate the process and allow time for it?

It's a battle I've fought in every organisation. It's important but tiring. Of course there's no magic solution but other perspectives are much appreciated!

The key to me making more stuff (I think) is to pick niche-y intersections that feel like they deserve more exploration. And then explore!

It's only monday but I am working on figuring out what I will be doing this weekend. I am debating formalizing my proposal into a proper PDF and share it.

I tried to take and outline the best way for a super / team to prioritize and plan work in a company/org that tries to assign "dates" and "targets" to what is truly indefinite work.

Having just wrapped up our Q1 planning, and having this WOW as leverage its starting to look successful!

My saying. Responding to change is already a competence. Stronger, than just reacting.

But initiating and creating the change even trumps more.

Everyone can be the master of their own destiny!

Thanks, Howard, for the nudge!

Change is ever present. Sometimes it comes quickly, other times it moves at a snails pace.

Are you working to respond to change or are you working to create the change?
