What have I done in my 61 and a bit years on planet earth? Rode a bicycle for transport and, even in Tasmania, where public transport is non-existent to shit, avoided car use for more than 90% of my journeys. I advocated bicycle use and walking. I ride a cargo bike for big loads, a touring bike for everything else. I eat a low meat diet. (Not arguing about veganism, I support you if that's your choice, I put dietary science first for myself, you're free to chose otherwise.) I have tried to reduce consumption, rather than recycle, but have recycled where reduced consumption has not been possible. I don't ride carbon fibre bicycles, I ride steel and aluminium and I repair, rather than replace my bicycles for as long as possible. I also repair or personally reuse parts from hard rubbish bicycles. I have given away 20 bicycles in the 14 years I've lived in Melbourne. (Tasmania had no hard rubbish programs when I lived there.) I no longer fly anywhere. The collapse of Tiger Air kind of made me realise I can do without air travel. My sis and I talk frequently on the phone, instead. I use bandcamp rather than spotify. Aside from spotify stealing from artists, downloads use data centre energy once, then only use your phone or laptop when you listen.
