Today is #WearItPurple day and I wanted to wear purple to show solidarity with young queer people

I actually have a lot of purple clothing – especially that bright aniline violet colour, which I adore – but it's a colour I feel very self-conscious about wearing because I am fat, and so purple makes me look like Grimace

There's one particular dress I got at an op-shop and I don't think I've ever worn it out of the house. It's a giant knee-length sack made of stretchy T-shirt material, and it's so comfortable

But I look inescapably like Grimace in it

Maybe it's time to banish it to the Pyjama Wardrobe, where all my disgraced daytime clothes live, like white t-shirts that never come up properly white again, and the promo t-shirts I get at movie events

Just made it to campus here at Macquarie Uni and the whole place is wearing purple!

I got my purple on, incl. the live long and prosper pride pin!
