I would like to commemorate May 2023 as the time when finally putting away the flannel sheets and turning off the heat (due to a cold spring) and busting out the portable A/C (due to a big heat wave) happened within two weeks of each other at our home in

In preparation for the record breaking high temps coming this weekend (going to be 90°F), I hath deployed the shade cloth. My poor cabbage and broccoli!🥦🥬😫 I was hoping to bring them to harvest, but I'm concerned they will probably bolt now...😖

Water capture and storage is an excellent plan even if you live in the northeastern US where we've seen a 71% increase in 'rainbomb' events since 1950. Our overall climate trends are warmer and wetter, but the watchword for our weather now should be 'erratic'. Erratic temperatures, erratic rainfall, erratic everything. So water reserves are a good idea, even here. youtu.be/R8fmCI9vOcI

This winter has been unusually warm. High temps most days well above normal. Tonight it will be in the 20s. Hope these early appearing daffodils survive. , When it has been cold it usually only lasts a day or two and then right back up.

There's a chance of another drought in much of Australia to follow the recent floods.

Weather whiplash on the cards. It's not possible to "get used to it" because it affects food, feed, seed and fibre production.

"Fears drought could follow floods as BOM forecasts chance of El Niño arriving off back of La Niña."
