The show's a confection - the task is wholly unrealistic and doesn't test the skills it claims. But there's heart and the result is quite satisfying.

AI bots are a dab hand at University Challenge, but have great difficulty with Countdown.

But journalism was always his calling, and he told the North West what's happening until he retired a decade back.

Question with lots of possible answers, and our contestants stand in front of the one they think is right.

Then the balls are released, and gravity takes over. Get it right, you're safe and play on. Get it wrong, you're knocked into the swimming pool.

Johnny De Mol hosts with a light wit, and makes a lot from a one-joke show.

The Week looks at Puzzling, a brain strain quiz in primetime on Channel 5.

If one can look beyond the bits they've borrowed from Only Connect, there's a decent show: mostly well-paced, enough to keep the mind ticking over, done in the most friendly atmosphere, and the series winner will have earned their title.

#Popmaster on the telly? Ken Bruce in front of a camera? How will we cope?

By asking lots of questions about pop music, and sometimes answering them.

The pilot series was to iron out some problems - I'd cut to four contenders. Maybe have some more assigned questions and less on the buzzers, so as to prevent a runaway win. And the questions were a bit wobbly - not inaccurate, but not the most entertaining.

#WeaversWeek looks at #IrelandsSmartest, a quiz on #RTE in #Ireland.

A very promising effort: the show flows, questions are pitched at a good level, and the cream rises to the top.

I don't ask for perfection on the first series, only that there's promise - and Ireland's Smartest has a lot of promise.

#InWithAShout gets reviewed in #WeaversWeek. It's a show where Joel Dommett asks people to say what's on their television screen before it changes.

Simple and impeccably made, "In With a Shout" could be a whole lot worse than it is. Even if it reminds me of "Name That Thing" from "The Satellite Show" circa 1988.
