不想浪费猫毛昨天用棉花练习纺锤,仔细看还是粗粗细细。另外还织了小样,想用这个搭配织围巾,这花现在看起来就是那种织了又没好好织的样子,赖唧唧的。
It's fun now. Keep it Simple (ableist word) kitchen towel the first has unbleached cottolin (cotton/linen blend) weft. #weaving #handweaving #LouetSpringLoom @fiberarts

Weaving started! Yesterday was a rest day from the loom.
It is waste yarn at the front of the warp. My bench is Schacht's. As I feared it feels low. I'm getting used to the new feel. Yellow yarn is really yellow on a 24.5" wide warp! #weaving #LouetSpringLoom #floorloom #handweaving

When warping this project I put enough yarn on for around four towels, but I wanted to take these off first so I could finish them an examine the pattern and color combinations. The next fabric won't use every color.
To take these off the loom I used a technique that apparently production weavers use. First you weave at least an inch buffer, then add in a long towel, then weave at least another inch. Then you can remove your fabric and bind the dowel to your apron rod.
The first two "everything" towels are off the loom! Both of these towels use colors from each of the 26 cones of 6/2 Bluegrass Mills cotton I won in the Woolery Weave Off this summer.
On the second towel I changed up my pattern ordering so that the color changes happened on the one symmetrical part of the pattern. I also seem to have relaxed my beat a bit for that towel--you can tell by how much longer it is than the other one. Just another way to tell that I'm still a beginner!
This part was harder and I retract my earlier complaint about the 80 screws. #weaving #LouetSpringLoom
Trying my hand at a twined basket. I trimmed our red osier dogwood and the twigs were still really flexible so I decided to put them to work. It's turning out pretty okay for my first one like this and second basket ever!
The next Fedi #CraftClub meeting will be this coming Sunday, Sept 3, at 9a pacific/noon eastern!
We're usually there for 2 hours.
Come hang out with us! Invite your friends!
I'll send a zoom out via email and as a reply to this thread. send me your email if you want on that email list, or if you prefer, let me know if you'd rather be tagged in a post at the time!

20 minutes and I was able to finish a towel. It takes 60 minutes, approximately, to weave this design. If I can do 3 twenty minute sessions a day, I can weave a towel a day. Back problems mean new goals? :-/. It’s not the ‘old ‘, it’s the ‘decrepit’ I mind…anyway, fingers crossed pain clinic can help me keep weaving. I still have stash, and ideas, I would like to weave. #weaving
I'm halfway through "everything towel" number two! For this towel I modified the pattern order a bit so that I started a new color at the only place in the pattern where there is symmetry.
The difference may be subtle to some (check the alt text on the images to tell towel 1 from 2), but if you compare this version with the same point in my previous towel I do think it makes the color transition cleaner.
Turned out really nice other than a lot longer than i anticipated lol #weaving
The subject line "You have a package coming" is forwarded by me to N.
His response: 116 lbs
Me: yeah
Correction from yesterday= replace 3 for 2 boxes. #weaving #slipperyslope
Im not much of a weaver, but I’m trying some #weaving on a cheap little loom.
I'm making progress on my "everything" towel. This is the majority of the second half of the towel, featuring the lighter tones from the 26-cone collection. I also added a picture featuring the underside of the towel so you can see how the pattern colors invert.
