Just got a "Standard" account on the Kagi search engine, $5/month, installed the firefox extension, tried a couple searches, enjoyed.

We'll see. May they not devolve like so many others. Stay good, Kagi!

Dear Every Single Search Box Anywhere: If I put quotes around "my search", I want an exact match to "my search". Don't show matches for one word, related terms, or even if all the words appear non-sequentially in the same page.
Exact match or nothing.

Its a similar story with , however searx uses not just G but aggregates search resilts from potentially G, DDG, MS, Metager, Qwant, Yandex and more.

We like to roll two dice (or a six-sided pen) to choose a . We have 36 lined up. Two tosses of a pen. :)

Its bad enough that they serve , and are a partner of the CDN giant, .

The fact that they also effectively host , should really raise an alarm for any thinking man, woman, child, duck, duck and flipping goose on the planet.

Maybe ought be the colloquialism.

@baldur And, speaking of gatekeeping the default search engine(s) offered in browsers:

"Lawsuit filed alleging Google is paying Apple to stay out of the search business"

The complaint charges that Google and Apple agreed that Apple would not compete in the internet search business against Google. The complaint claims that the means used to effectuate the non-compete agreement included; (1) Google would share it's search profits with Apple; (2) Apple would give preferential treatment to Google for all Apple devices; (3) regular secret meetings between the executives of both companies; (4) annual multi-billion-dollar payments by Google to Apple not to compete in the search business; (5) suppression of the competition of smaller competitors and foreclosing competitors from the search market; (6) acquiring actual and potential competitors.

For those who might be new to Fedi and don't know you can help reduce 's dominance in by using and supporting those who run a Peertube server, like our admin, @witchescauldron.

You can help end Google's extreme dominance in by using and websites. Tor can help make you more anonymous, while Searx sends your query to an array of like , and and more, helping you get more diverse results.

Please excuse us, do you mean ?

Have you heard of ?

Basically anyone can setup a publicInterface that fetches result from all the search engines. Combining searx with makes it impossible for ( etc.) to know what individuals are searching for.

Indeed. We have been using the "search for" phrase for a while.

Unfortunately are not the greatest either. Yesterday we discovered that they refer people to a video on when people search for "JFK to 911 Rich Man's Trick".

We don't think this is an accident.

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be great many options re . There's but hashtags might be the best way moving forward.
