#WebCall ist zumindest nen interessanter Ansatz, weils's wie #JitsiMeet ne #WebRTC-Verbindung aufbaut, aber auf #E2EE setzt und direkt Peer-to-Peer läuft, die Server nur für NAT-Punching dienen...

It connects to the 4G LTE network, and works as a hotspot on a pinch, but only connects to 2.4 GHz wifi.

Regular voice is clear and crisp, and video calling with #WebCall works, when needed.

Typing with T9 on the keypad works when necessary, but I have no plans to type a lot of messages with it.

There's no Google account or services, and #DuckDuckGo hasn't detected any attempts by any apps to collect data.

For notes, to-do, calendar, it syncs to my calDav host.

First of all, use @torproject because companies like @protonmail can and will snitch on their customers, so don't use them or ajy of the #GAFAM|s for anything.

In terms of comms, I'd recommend #XMPP - #OMEMO for #Chat (i.e. #Gajim), #Thunderbird (with PGP/MIME encryption) for #eMail, #WebCall for 1:1 securely encrypted calls (#P2P so maybe not ideal)...

You can make P2P voice/video calls from any device, with Internet and #webRTC, without registering for an account, to anybody with a #WebCall number.

Registration is possible without disclosing personal information.

Several days ago, the telecoms regulator in the the #Philippines extended the mandatory #SimRegistration period for another 90 days, ending in July.

While researching the feasibility of cutting my phone, rather than submit to the registration, I stumbled on #WebCall for P2P #webRTC voice calls. An interesting option, when you don't/can't give away your number, and still do voice calls over the Internet.

Have you tried it? Calls quality is decent, and caller registration is optional.

@woof I don't use #Discord for that reason - among others.

Wer nur 1:1 - Videocalls braucht, für den könnte #WebCall ne bessere Option sein [ https://timur.mobi/webcall ], ansonsten ist @nextcloud mit #NextcloudTalk exzellent und mit @CollaboraOffice zusammen der Ersatz für #Office365!

Personally, I only use #FLOSS for comms and that saved me from all the #junk, #Govware and #Spam spread through shitty #SingleVendor / #SingleProvider messengers.

In fact, I only use:
- #XMPP for 1:1 chats_
- #IRC for #public group chats
- #Zulip for private group & work chats
- #JitsiMeet & #WebCall for #Videoconferencing & #ConferenceCalling
- #Linphone for #SIP / #VoIP,
- #GnuPG-encrypted #eMail &
- #Nextcloud for File Sync & Document sharing.

#Nextcloud would be nice if we just need to exchange large files and don't want to fiddle with #git-LFS and if we want #telephony and not a #PBX, #WebCall by https://timur.mobi might be an easy option.

Consider these all suggestions, as I don't want to setup anything without prior consensus.
