Nun habe ich neben dem einen einsamen Use-Case meines #raspberrypi Servers auch #SilentNotes für mich entdeckt.

Es bahnt sich an, dass Cloud Computing nicht unbedingt mit dem Internet zu tun haben muss. Wenn man es lediglich lokal zwischen Couch, Küche und heimischem Büro live benötigt, reicht außerhalb der eigenen vier Wände der letzte Zustand vollkommen aus.
Und am Ende des Tages kommt dann zusammen, was zusammen gehört.

#iCloud Drive is great 95% of the time, the other 5% it’s simply infuriating. Hangs (“1 item, 8 kB left, LOL” for hours), stalls, randomly unsync’d files… I pay for the 200GB plan, mostly for Photos sync/storage, but even those €3/month are a hard sell at that point.

I just moved my #Strongbox DB onto my #WebDAV server, and my #ObsidianMD vault out of iCloud Drive, then signed up for #ObsidianSync. The latter was an easy decision: I want to add some Sync features to #ActionsForObsidian anyways.

A good app for notes, but not necessarily a notes app.
UI similar to Apple Notes but it HAS to have an Android + macOS + iOS app and must sync to Nextcloud/Webdav.

I use iWriter Pro, NC Notes and 1Writer now but I'm sick and tired of using Markdown for notes and writing.

Any ideas?

I haven’t looked at other options with #WebDAV but that could be fun to explore.

I wish I could find a straightforward #selfhost alternative that didn't require 30 wodges of #Docker #bloatware and more free time than it takes to earn a doctorate from Carnegie-Mellon.

I'm using #TiddlyWiki with #WebDAV, plus the venerable old #Webnote for lightweight things, and I'm probably going to have to settle for that because I agreed to cook dinner at least four nights a week.

At @overte we need better content management. Our content is downloaded over HTTP. This is okay, but doesn't work well for serving content archives.

I've been cleaning it up, and switched to CMake.

#WebDAV is a standard #http based #web protocol I plan to use to implement a sort of inventory system for Overte.

I think it will be great since many OSes handle it natively, which allows for simple workflows without extra software.

@murks Never put your passwords in the cloud... I would use #KeepassXC (Android) or #KeePassium (iOS) with #NextCloud, #WebDAV or #Syncthing.

But mb its not beginner friendly, but if you do the work, your friends should only click a few buttons at the end.

@waffles @elebertus I've heard good things about Truenas, but never used it.
If you don't want to devote an entire machine to it, you could try running #owncloud or #nextcloud. I run both, but mostly use owncloud, although it's long overdue an upgrade to a more recent version. With both of those there are desktop clients that can behave like onedrive in keeping your stuff synced, and support #webdav and #caldav etc.

Having a fight against #Firefox freaking out when entering a locally mounted #webdav folder, from which Firefox should simply read the damn file and upload it.

Instead? Total freeze of Firefox and to some degree the entire system.

#OpenSource und verschlüsselt über #Nextcloud #WebDAV u.a. zwischen allen Geräten synchronisierbar.

Die Nextcloud App muss auch drauf, falls man (hoffentlich) eine Nextcloud in der Schule hat.
