We just keep taking flights. We just keep eating animals. We refuse to change our lifestyles. We refuse to have fewer children. We are still failing to properly lobby politicians to do more, failing to stop doing business with companies responsible for the majority of emissions. And we continue to completely fail the countries that will be most affected by the climate emergency.

I have heard some terrible excuses: "What difference can I make, I'm just one person". Or the ultimate in defensiveness: "Stop criticising me, and anyway, what are YOU doing then that makes you so great?". Or the ultimate in selfishness: "Who cares, I won't be alive by the time it all goes to shit anyway".

Brutal heat in South Africa:
Today the temperature rose to 47.3C at Augrabies Falls (altitude 635m asl) and to 46.1C at Vioolsdrif.
