Weekend project complete!

Recycled an old laptop screen into an external monitor with micro HDMI and USB C input. All thanks to a cheap epd video board from AliExpress. Everthing mounted onto a sprayed piece of wood from the shed.

Basically, you connect the #ESP32 to any device with UART, and you can remotely (via WIFI) send and receive data using an ordinary web browser. Also it stores some of them in RAM, so you won't miss what happened.

It's still pretty early in development (definitely support for more boards + ability to connect to an existing WIFI network is missing), but maybe it'll be useful for someone.

My #WeekendProject this week was to repair the holes in my ceiling. The holes were from installing new lights. I also looked at #snapcast and didn’t come away impressed. I couldn’t get it to sound very good at all.

I had a birdfeeder pole that only had a round shaft in the ground. It would rotate with the wind with a danger of hitting a window. Pulled out my wire feed welder and hacked a usable fix. Took a piece of scrap steel from an old bed frame and welded it to the pole. In addition to not twisting now, the plate I welded on give me a place to hammer on to get the pole in the ground. Works - but again a new respect for trade craft people #dontquitmydayjob #welding #weekendproject

My Mean Well RD-50A has arrived. Now I need to wait a little more until the barrel jack connectors and cables + wall plug arrive.
