Good morning, lovely people! Meditation and caffeination have already been achieved. Hey #WeekendSewingClub ! I totally messed up the top I was trying to make last weekend (mainly due to me not realising that what I needed to do was the burrito method) so I tried again this weekend with a couple of leftover fabrics. Managed to make it work (yay!) - pretty pleased with the look of it until I put it on and saw the unfortunate pattern vs boob placement! Next time will be better #sewing @sewing@chirp.social @sewing@a.gup.pe

@sewing@a.gup.pe @sewing@chirp.social This is the Tinsely tennis dress by Made for Mermaids. I highly recommend a test in cheap fabric because the built-in bodysuit/unitard is very fitted and I needed to add length to the lining bodice but not the dress bodice. I love it! If this pattern had been released in the spring, my whole summer wardrobe would have been these.

I thought about button placement, and then gave myself up to lying on the sofa like a wimpy Jane Austen side character.

(I absolutely BET poor Jane Fairfax had CFS. Probably untreated hypothyroidism too. Ugh!)

I hemmed the sleeves twice (including lining 😭). They were just a shade short for my preference before, but at least I had plenty of turn-up to let out.

I’ve just finished #sewing this Sew Over It Libby shirt in a Lady McElroy fabric called Chicago Polaroids. It’s a bit of a fiddly make, due to the collar, but I’m pretty happy with it (assuming no-one looks at it too closely!)

Sunday achievement: 20 metres or so of cotton lawn bias tape :-) #WeekendSewingClub

Question for the #WeekendSewingClub: which stitch on your sewing machine do you use to sew stretch fabrics? Ordinary zigzag or something else? I haven't got an overlocker.

Here’s as far as my 2nd weekend on the plum tweed jacket got me. In my defence, there has been a shit load of top-stitching. I’ve already empty one bobbin, which would usually have got me through the entire jacket. Pretty pleased with the effect so far.

It usually takes 2-3 toiles to get undies right but they only take 30-60min to make, so I should be able to get at least one pair ready for wear by the end of the weekend

It’s slow work fitting #WeekendSewingClub around #MECFS, but I’ve got as far as cutting out the plum merino jacket, and I love this fabric more all the time I’m handling it. It’s a relatively loose, flopsy tweed, so tomorrow is going to be mostly stay-stitching the pieces to stope them distorting, and maybe a button mission to town if I’m feeling up to it. #sewing #tailoring #maker
