As promised, here's a picture of the hardcover's binding, which is cloth. You can see it lays flat when opened, even near the front of the book. I'm very pleased with how it turned out. 😀

I was able to add a short bio, comment on the book, and picture of the author to the rear flap of the dust-jacket. You can also see the gold spine lettering on the dark green cloth cover underneath.

I just heard from the publisher this evening that he and the author (John Power) visited the printer today to sign & number the limited edition hardcovers of Essential Go Proverbs. Those of you lucky enough to have placed an order should be receiving them in the near future.

I am also happy to report that the author himself is very pleased with how the book printing/binding/etc. turned out, especially the hardcover version which he says is fabulous. While he didn’t say explicitly whether the binding was cloth/sewn, He did say that when opened it lies flat.

This presentation makes me think that the tug-o-war between "humans" and "AI" is right now at a security exploit / security patch stage. A slowly-evolving arms race of sorts between "AI" development and adversarial tactics.

(Or a "protracted game", as Scott Boorman titled his classic analysis of Maoist military tactics from a #WeiChi perspective: "The Protracted Game : A Wei-Ch'i Interpretation of Maoist Revolutionary Strategy".)

A really great Go book is being released this week. I’m biased not only because I did the layout & cover, but because it’s the book on Go proverbs I’ve wanted ever since I heard that John Power was working on it over 20 years ago.

When it didn’t appear after a few years I thought that it would never be published. Fortunately for Go players it’s now available. There’s even a signed limited edition hardcover version for the bibliophiles! Of course there’s also a digital gobook version from @smartgo which takes full advantage of that format’s features, including the ability to jump to the full game from many of the examples taken from professional play.

It isn’t an inexpensive book, but it is BIG — over 500 double-column 7x10” (178 x 254 mm) pages, making it a good value. You’ll be studying this for a long time.
