1589 followers · 646 posts · Server mstdn.socialI am SO NOT a fan of stories that try to debunk things with "NOT" in their headline. "This crazy thing X is NOT true..." is a terrible and lazy framing. It does more to emphasize the untruth because people can gloss over the one negating word.
The better way is to emphasize the perpetrators of the hoax: "Crazy social media posts suggest fake crazy thing X". That has a greater impact and people remember that the source of the claim is problematic. #weirdnews #news #fakenews
