Over the last few weeks I’ve noticed another flurry of ‘second-chancers’ on #Mastodon: folk I knew on #Twitter, who came over in an earlier wave, hated it for what it wasn’t, and left accounts dormant until the next shit thing came along to remind them that nor is where they are still the place they chose to be.

So, #WelcomeToMastodon, newcomers and 2nd- (or 3rd-, 4th- or morth-) chancers!

A few tips on what you might reasonably hate, and what you can feasibly change in your experience here…

Someone you #follow getting to be a bit too much? Don't want to really unfollow but really wish they'd shut up for awhile?

Hit the 3 dots next to their Profile pic and hit MUTE, then select a timeframe for which you'd like them to reappear on your timeline. You can even choose to mute them until you turn them back on manually!
