Since we're seeing another huge influx of users on #Mastodon, I figure now's a good time to bring up the importance of #hashtags for search on this platform.

Add hashtags to make your posts easy for other people to find. For example #FuckElonMusk works way better in search here than "fuck Elon Musk."

Also, use #CamelCase for multi-word tags (first letter of each word capitalized, no spaces) so people using screen readers get a better understanding of the text.

Maybe an idea for the #oldhere and #newHere folks:

When I started to use mastodon/the fediverse more often, a few lovely people started to look after me a little bit and interacted a lot, and this helped so much to make me feel welcome here! And I also always had someone to answer questions.
I would love to pass this on to people who are now joining, so feel free to write me a DM or a comment if you're interested 🤗 (my interests etc are in my profile and my pinned post 😊)

If anyone else feels like doing that too, or doing that together, do you have any good ideas for hashtags?

The internet is transitory, even compared to most other media. If you hope to hold onto anything in the online space for a long time, it's very important to:
- make copies.
- store them in multiple places.
- store at least one copy offline.

I'm sorry for whatever you've left behind, but I'm sure glad you're here now!

I'm sorry you've seen the dark underbelly of life. It gets worse but it also gets so much better.

You gotta ignore that junk and block them. The fact is they only care about you if you give them attention, so don't. Unless you posted your home address or something, they would have difficulty tracking you down anyway (though they'll swear otherwise).
