Watching the “Welcome to Wrexham” doc. The McElhenney & Reynolds story is compelling (and amusing—Ted Lasso comparisons hard to avoid), but I am impressed most by its consistent focus on the Wrexham fan community and its history. I’m not the world’s biggest football fan but I’ve always watched the #WorldCup since I was a kid. Argentina 78 is the earliest I remember. I won’t be watching this year. It’s been built on a foundation of corruption, death and a culture of descrimination. I wish England luck and hope they do well but I’ll stick to #WelcomeToWrexham for the emotional rollercoaster.
