NZSO concert last night was fabulous. Rhapsody in Blue a total delight, and the Blues Symphony by Marsalis an incredible performance. It’s the sort of piece where you don’t know what is coming next. All sorts of bells, whistles, triangles, and drums. Conductor André de Ridder looked to have superb control throughout, and a great rapport with the orchestra.
