Looking towards Makara from the top of Wrights Hill. Look closely and wind turbines can be seen on the distant hills

Since it is such a nice morning in Wellington… The Asteron building at the entrance to the canyons of Featherston Street.

"The Gilbert Islands Coastwatchers Memorial on the corner of Whitmore Street and Waterloo Quay, Wellington.
The memorial was unveiled in October 2014. It commemorates New Zealand radio operators based on the Gilbert Islands (now Kiribati) who were executed by the Japanese in the Second World War."

Took this from Te Papa on Sunday morning. Wellington isn't always windy...

#WellyWednesday throwback to 1990 or 1991 and the Nissan Mobil 500. In that era there were still a few places you could find gaps in fences or sit on walls and watch for free. Pictured are a pair of Schnitzer Team BMW M3s at very illegal speed on Jervois Quay
And a late night contribution to #WellyWednesday
Pigeon Pride!
An incredibly fortuitous shot as I was crossing Cuba Street a few weeks back.
P. S. Anyone know how Welly Wanderer is doing? I'm missing their presence here... and their gorgeous photos.
For #WellyWednesday, a #WinterSolstice theme of "those who tend the fires".
Event held by Lōemis at Freyberg Beach, Wellington

#WellyWednesday although it’s a small dark private corner of outer wellington it’s pretty neat i think so
Completely missed #WellyWednesday so here are a few for Thursday. A mix of shots on film and digital from Pōneke/Wellington...
I’ve not done a Welly Wednesday photo in ages and now I can’t remember the hashtag ( #WellyWednesday maybe? 😂) anyway…
I took this last week while walking back to my car and didn’t realise the phone had done its dark / light thingy. I like it. It looks spoooooky.
Also adding one of the cable car at night because it’s cool.

Winter is my favourite time of year for natural light photography. The quality of light, the low angles, the glare, the occasional cold mist, provides for much more interesting lighting conditions. It's also of particular value to me as I seldom get the chance to go out during golden/blue hour.
I haven't had too many opportunities to make use of the seasonal light so far, but here are a couple of snaps for #WellyWednesday where I was testing it out.
