Wemo (Belkin) is backing off from Matter. If we take into consideration that the Wemo app has almost never been updated, in my opinion, Belkin may be looking to exit. This is rather disappointing for me, as I have invested a bit into the wemo ecosystem. The outlet adapters are fairly easy to install, as it's plug it in and go, but the hard wired wall switches, those will be more of a challenge to replace.

My #wemo smart outlet did a firmware update and now it's sending out bonjour advertisements for "OpenWrt SSH". Why the heck would there be an SSH server in an outlet!?

It drops the connection immediately, so presumably it's soft-disabled, but still... I should just replace my remaining wemo outlets with (Thread-only) eve outlets; wemo's been nothing but trouble.

Weird, somehow the Wemo skill got turned off. That's what Alexa says anyway. One of my lights stopped working and it's connected to a #Wemo plug. Of course, it's entirely possible that I somehow screwed this up when I was fiddling with the Alexa app. Anyway, it's back working normally now.

Today, using a 5-year-old #WeMo smart plug and #Tasker for #Android and a tiny web-facing #python #script, I can now leave my #phone plugged in and it'll keep the #battery charging/discharging between 30% and 70% (or any other bounds).

I gather this should prolong battery lifespan substantially. Probably 'til well after I need another phone, which granted, kind of defeats the entire purpose, but whatever, it works.

So update on Wemo and google saga, I logged a support call and decided to check back in today. Much to my surprise, I can now add the Wemo devices in to google home again. Someone sorted out the api somewhere 🤚🏼#wemo

@shaqh I am also experiencing a lot of issues with #googlehome interacting with #wemo devices. Additionally, it seems that controlling groups of devices is having problems.

It would appear that #Wemo is down. I can't turn on my Christmas tree. I actually restarted my router, which is something typically I never have to do.

I have a #Wemo #SmartHome Video #Doorbell that I installed on October 31 and has been working great since then.

It shows as non-responsive in the #HomeKit Home app. The doorbell is still getting power and chimes itself when the button is pressed but it doesn’t chime anything inside of my house or send a notification. I can use the #Eero app for my wi-fi network to see that the doorbell is connected to the network with the highest signal.

Does anyone have any #TechSupport for what I should do?
