Paul Goodman has a line somewhere about how getting distracted is getting attracted to something else. I don't think he attributed the thought to Augustine but maybe it used by too basic and an insight.

Today (friday 6th) we celebrate in the Feast of , a memorial of three times we see Jesus revealed as God:
1. The adoration of the Magi.
2. The Baptism of the Lord in the Jordan River.
3. The weding of Cana.
However, the most visible aspect of the Feast is the first one. The Baptism of the Lord is also celebrated in most places the following sunday (January 8th this year).

I think the in the United States needs an overhaul. I know I'm not alone in that thought, but on my drive home today I was thinking about church or (or temple for Jews at the time of Jesus) and fellowship for are one in the same, but I don't think they always have been. During most of history, people in a community were well known by each other. Now, we have such large communities it's easy for people to get lost.
So...What then is the purpose of church? 1/2
