I'm curious what is it about the most clownish, baffoonish, unhinged loudmouths that get people to support them?

I mean, I get the stuff about bullshit that people really want to believe ('I alone can fix the problems', etc), but why is it that the worst stuff ('Mexicans are rapists, Biden is a Marxist-Leninist, Jewish space lasers, 'If my son were gay I would kill him', slapping a woman ON CAMERA & telling her she is 'too ugly to rape', etc) doesn't make someone think 'Hold on...!'
