One of the less well known standing stones of West Penwith for #StandingStoneSunday.
Treverven is a 6ft+ stone standing in a field just off the road between Treen and St Buryan. It's a fine, tapering stone. [Portrait, needs a click]
For pisky-led goings on in this area, see Rhiannon's #folklore Post on TMA: https://www.themodernantiquarian.com/post/52475/folklore/treverven.html

The marvellous Boscawen-Ros stone for #StandingStoneSunday. (Portrait, needs a click).
The stone is one of a pair, but its partner was unfortunately moved and now stands buried in a hedge at the side of the field.
This is one of the lowland stones of West Penwith, in the fertile farmland near the coast between Lamorna Cove and Treen, not far from #MerryMaidens stone circle.
This visit June 2009.

The tallest stone of the wonderful Nine Maidens of Boskednan stone circle for the first #StandingStoneSunday of 2023 (portrait, needs a click).
The rocky granite tor beyond is Carn Galva (or Galver) and the circle clearly has a visual relationship with it. The tor was the location of a Neolithic or Bronze Age enclosure.

Boswens Croft standing stone on the West Penwith moors for #StandingStoneSunday.
A fine Bronze Age standing stone, it is located just over the northern brow of a hill, giving it fine views across to Chûn Downs. It is intervisible with Chûn Quoit and looks down on anyone walking the Tinner's Way route below.
This visit October 2010.

For #TombTuesday, this is the megalithic mushroom of Chûn Quoit (pronounced 'choon') on the West Penwith moors.
A Neolithic chambered tomb, these quoits are the oldest monuments in West Cornwall. Unlike the quoits at Zennor and Lanyon, Chûn was surrounded by a circular mound or cairn of stones, probably with a stone-lined entrance passage.
Watch Croft, the highest point in West Penwith, is on the skyline.

For #StandingStoneSunday, this is the standing stone on Watch Croft, the highest hill in West Penwith. It stands just downhill from a pair of Bronze Age cairns and has great views across the moors towards Nine Maidens.

For #TombTuesday, this is Bosiliack Barrow on the West Penwith moors. It's a Bronze Age entrance grave of the Scillonian type. In the background is the Ding Dong engine house, a well known landmark on this part of the moors.
This visit October 2009.
