Incredible purple sky here in #Whakatu tonight. I only had the phone to hand but it didn’t do too shabby a job
Sometime at work I get to photograph some special events. Today was the unveiling of a plaque remembering the animal casualties of war, an event known as Purple Poppy Day. I love these three photos from this event especially the pigeons who chose to fly directly down the lens of the camera! #PurplePoppyDay #Nelson #Whakatu

I don’t have any photos of me with Jacinda because my work has me behind the lens. These four a some of favourite shots I’ve taken of her. Her first campaign visit to Whakatū then a first term visit, 2nd campaign and 2nd term visit #NZPol #Jacinda #PoliticalPhotos #Whakatū

Day 25 of my #AdventCalendar of #art. #MerryChristmas! This last photograph is one of the town where I live and therefore of one the communities that support me. #Whakatū / #Nelson in #Aotearoa / #NewZealand.
This may be the last of this series but I’m sure I’ll still post photos at least semi- regularly and certainly anything new will be represented here.

Day 24 of my #AdventCalendar of #art. A shot where work #photography intersects with art. A community #hāngi to celebrate #Matariki. The dark steaming mound of earth lit by car headlights and lights from the attendant fire engine. The almost ghostly shapes of the people waiting to dig away the earth to reveal the #kai and feed the gathered #whanau. Magical

Day 23 of my #AdventCalendar of #art. Another angle from my deck here in #Whakatū. This one was an attempt to capture the amazing light conditions when a #GoldenHour sun peeks under dark storm clouds

Day 20 of my #AdventCalendar of #art. Sometimes photographers go to some lengths to set up a shot. Sometimes you just go for a walk on the beach and someone has done it for you. This sculpture was on #Tahunanui beach in #Whakatū / #Nelson.

Day 13 of my #AdventCalendar of #art. Another shot from a #phone. This one is Tāhunanui beach in #Whakatū. Midwinter dawn.

Day 11 of my #AdventCalendar of #art. As part of my work I regularly attend the Nelson Market here in #Whakatū , sometimes with a #photography assignment. This shot was while I was waiting for my boss to arrive and the clouds parted and the winter sun lit the whole place.

New Zealand's first overseas cable link, to Australia, was opened here at Cable Bay on 21 February 1876, establishing a connection with the worldwide telegraph network via Sydney. This new service meant communications to Europe took only four days instead of up to six months for letters.
Cable Bay is a bay and small settlement north-east of #Whakatū #Nelson. I wonder how it looked back in 1876!

#AtaMārie koutou. It’s a gorgeous day here in #Whakatū. However I have knee #surgery in 11 days 🤞and today is my last day of being allowed to take anti-inflammatory drugs before the procedure 🥺. As my problem is with an inflamed meniscus in my knee I’m not looking forward to the next 10 days
