"Anyone who pursues his lust for this world saves demons the trouble of pursuing him." (Malek)

I am loving Kyla Stone's "Edge of Collapse" series, jam-packed with action in a post-apocalyptic environment caused by an EMP. Highly recommend.

I just finished TELL ME I'M WORTHLESS by Alison Rumfitt (2021, Nightfire Books) and it is a wonderful and brutal read. I did not realize that political horror could be done so well.

Just finished the third book in this trilogy. It’s 1000% what I needed right now.

If indigenous futurist fiction sounds like your kind of thing, I highly recommend.

And make sure you read the afterword to each of the books, too. An unfortunate amount of the evil they describe is not actually fiction.

Available as audiobooks, too.

"The state of sex" Pub. Routledge
Interesting reading about the history of in The US from 1800-1950s. the interplay of public health, mining/gold rush town, the leisure industry, gambling, zoning, tourism, patriarchy, Victorian morality, organized crime
society recognizes working men who don't have or want relationships or marriage in harsh working conditions but want leisure and have money. There are these back and forth power sturggles that determine these shifting alliances. One interesting action was a town redefining its 'main street' to circumvent a new law.

@mseri thanks, I've put it up for reading, fascinating subject!

I had read a title sometimes lately that said that the theory of global interconnectedness of forests had been disproved, but I didn't read the article unfortunately...

A very nice and detailed article on the situation of GPs in the UK.

Incidentally, I learn that the GPs in England are responsible for the people who work in their practice and that they have financial liability? 🤔

There must be a (german) word for the surprise of learning that welfare in countries you assumed to be very advanced has in fact been stripped by years of unrestrained capitalism, bringing them to a much worse situation than where you live...

From Daniel Pinkwater's _Snarkout Boys and the Avocado of Death_:
"The thing about Laurel and Hardy movies that you can't get from the chopped-up versions on television is how beautiful they are. Things happen exactly at the moment they have to happen. They don't happen a second too soon or too late. You can even predict what's going to happen—and it does happen—and it surprises you anyway. It doesn't surprise you because it happened, but because it happened so perfectly.”
