My BFF in Ohio is new to
#Gardening Her Mom had planted this. The pretty plant at the corner that has leggy stalks of little lavender flowers with (I think) a yellow center. Any help identifying is appreciated!

@plantgeek In the daisy family, yes. But that just narrows it down to about 30,000 species. My guess is a garden escape but maybe someone on #WhatIsThisPlant knows more than me.

@najakwa I do all my #WhatIsThisPlant identifications for people on #iNaturalist. Doing it there builds plant knowledge at the same time, since all the photos have dates and locations and the data are all readily available to researchers.

Can we get a #WhatIsThisPlant hashtag going on Mastodon? It was one of my favorite joys of #Reddit, it hooked me into ecology and botany in very material and direct ways.

#WhatIsThisPlant - I'm thinking it's a form of #mammillaria but I got nothing beyond that.

It's got fuzz like a #FeatherCactus but its also got thorns. The thorns are slightly curved at the edge, kinda like a #FishhookCactus.

Any rose experts out there? This is the mysterious rose from the farm. The original is all over the gable wall of an old stone barn (east facing) in Tipperary, Ireland. This one is now flourising on top of an exposed hill in Cork. We have called it the Killough Rose for now.
