Door 18 of my #WhiskyAdventCalendar hid a "Three Ships 12 Years".
Whisky from South Africa? That sounds intriguing.
I can smell the alcohol a bit, but there's also a smell that reminds me a bit of something baked.
It burns on the tip of the tongue and tastes very strongly of smoke. A bit earthen, like a cigar, too.
I like that taste to be honest, but the burn isn't that enjoyable.
Taking more in my mouth obviously burns more, so nothing special here. But it also has that strong bitter (...)

After a break due to not-feeling-goodness here's door number 17 of the #WhiskyAdventCalendar: A "Suntori Kakubin Yellow"
It fragrance is pretty soft but nice. I can't put my finger on what it reminds me of.
It doesn't burn on the tip of the tongue and the vapor tastes quite nice.
However if I put more in my mouth it starts to come off bitter again. Apart from that the taste is still pretty nice though.
I wouldn't buy it though.

The #WhiskyAdventCalendar is still going and I've opened door number 15.
This is a "Nikka Rich Blend", another japanese Whisky.
Again it smells very fruity, not strong of alcohol. It also reminds me of Ume, though ... it doesn't really smell of that plum-wine.
It's rather like a different fruit-wine, but I can't put my finger on which fruit it smells like.
I can't get enough of the smell though.
Still on to the first drop on the tip of the tongue...
While it _does_ burn, again it does (...)

Door number 15 of the #WhiskyAdventCalendar hid a small bottle of "Tomatin 12 Years".
The smell actually reminds me a bit of that plum wine that you get in asian restaurants.
It doesn't burn at all when hitting the tip of the tongue and the vapors taste very nice.
Hopes are high at this point, so let's see what it tastes like when I take a little sip...
It doesn't even burn when taking a little sip, so in that aspect I'm happy. It _does_ burn a little on the way down, but that's (...)

Even though christmas is over, I'm gonna continue trying the Whiskys from the #WhiskyAdventCalendar.
Day 14 contained a "Glengarry 12 Years".
It smells interesting (using that word without any judgement, negative or positive). I can't compare the smell to anything. Definitely a bit smokey.
Putting it on the tip of the tongue burns a little and the vapor definitely tastes smokey. Sadly I also have a slight bitterness in my mouth.
Putting more in my mouth doesn't burn immediately (but (...)

Door number 13 of my #WhiskyAdventCalendar revealed a "Highland Park 10 Years Viking Scars".
This whisky smells very smokey.
It burns a little on the tip of the tongue and has a very smokey flavour as well.
This one reminds me a bit of smoking a good cigar.
Taking more in my mouth doesn't increase the burn, thus I would describe this Whisky as "smooth".
It also does not trigger that "bitter" taste that most others did.
All in all this also is one that I wouldn't decline if offered (...)

The 12th door of my #WhiskyAdventCalendar contains a Whisky from India called "Paul John Nirvana".
It smells pretty nice. Not very strongly of alcohol.
Doesn't burn much on the tip of the tongue, but letting it evaporate there already leaves a slight bitter taste in my mouth.
But when that's gone (I guess because the alcohol is gone), the taste is really nice.
Taking more in my mouth doesn't increase the bitter taste which is good, because it isn't very strong, but it burns going (...)

Time for #WhiskyAdventCalendar door number 11.
This one is from Japan again. It is called "Kirin Oak Master Taru Kaoru".
It doesn't give up much fragrance at all.
Burns on the tip of the tongue but the vapor tastes nice again.
It tastes too much of alcohol though :/
So another one for the "No"-List.

After a week of hiatus on account of being sick, I finally opened the 10th door of my #WhiskyAdventCalendar to reveal a "Tory's Extra".
While the name reminds me of the UK (if I'm not mistaken, there's a "Tory Party" there?), it actually is a blended Japanese Whisky.
When opening the bottle, it had a rather nice smell to it, but when smelling the glass, it reminded me of glass cleaner.
And no - I didn't use glass cleaner to clean my drinking glass XD
It doesn't burn much on the tip of my (...)
No posts about the #WhiskyAdventCalendar yesterday and today because I've been to events.
I didn't open any door and I'll review three doors tomorrow :)
Today's Whisky smells pretty nice. Not a lot alcohol smell and a bit fruity.
The #WhiskyAdventCalendar gave me an 8yrs old "Black Velvet".
Burns a bit on the tip of the tongue, but not too intensely. Tastes nice, too. But it burns too much in the mouth to drink much of it.
That's sad because it leaves a nice taste that lasts for a long time, but the burning is just too much.
I think with this one I'll try something I read which is to dilute it drop by drop with water to make the burn (...)
Okay, today's Whisky from the #WhiskyAdventCalendar is a real disappointment. It smells of disinfectant and tastes just of alcohol.
It is a "Glencadam Reserva Andalucia Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish".
I'm getting more and more the impression that I'm just not the Whisky type...
