#WhiskyGalore is on tv now. Based on a true story, my Dad was a young boy on #Eriskay when the #SSPolitician went aground with its cargo of #whisky. His uncles (drunk) rowed out on a loch on Eriskay to hide bottles from the Customs men, but couldn't remember the spot later! They must still be there today.

On #Wikipedia TIL about the shipwreck that was the basis of the movie ‘#WhiskyGalore ‘. Not the first nor the last ‘Politician’ to be sunk with whisky 🥃!

There is a fleeting glimpse of the pub/restaurant Am Politician in the video.

So named as Eriskay is the island that the SS Politician ran aground on in 1941, with its precious cargo of whisky. This real event led to the fictionalised account in the famous book and film Whisky Galore (1949). The book is a great read and the film is very entertaining
