Might even have a wee nip of Smokehead while watching this. It is #WhiskyWednesday afterall.

There seems to be football on every night this week. 😀
Last night I watched Hibs u19 v Dortmund. It had some interest for me as in my previous life teaching, I taught three of the Hibs players (not football, but in Primary School), sadly, Hibs lost - Dortmund were very good.
Tonight it's the Scottish Challenge Cup on Alba - Dundee v Raith. An unusual competition in that teams from NI and Wales also take part. The commentary is in Gaelic so I have no idea what is being said 😂. It's a good game!
Ardnamurcham AD 02/22, 58.7%, NCF,NC
That's better after the Jura 10 disappointment. Salty, minty, pears and almond whiffs. A really full, creamy mouthful of orange, caramel, smoke and spice. Subtle hints of vanilla and fruit.

BTW, Raith are getting humped at the moment. Ex-PM Gordon Broon won't be best pleased.

I can't help feeling that this would be improved by bottling at a higher abv, ditching the caramel colour and dispensing with chill filtering as I really think that this has taken some of the oomph out of it. Fairly subtle on the nose, chocolate a touch of smoke and I get a whiff of pencil rubber. Spicy, and oily at first, developing some raisin notes and some nice warmth. A bit of a bitter, salty finish with some more smoke, liquorice and more rubber!
Not the most complex of drams and a wee bit harsh, but it might develop if I let it rest. I wouldn't buy it a the RRP of £33 but it was on offer in Sainsbury's for £20.
Fortunately, I have much better on the whisky shelf to follow this dram 😀

Have fond memories of this heavily sherried dram from a few years ago when it could be picked up for as little as £25.

Glenfiddich 15. CF, E105a, 40% abv. Solera cask finish.
Dried fruit and honey Heather, orange and maybe even a bit of banana. Perhaps some fudge.Quite complex. Very dry and spicy on the tongue some citrus and more dried fruit and vanilla but it's awfy thin and not much of a mouthful. Slightly grassy woody finish.

Settling down for the football.
Glencadam 10 y/o NCF, NC, 46% abv.
Big waft of fresh melon, banana and vanilla with a wee hint of mint. Beautifully smooth, citrus and floral notes, light, but packing loads of flavour. Malty, grassy, green apple finish - wonderful, a real belter, such an easy sipper.
For the price (around £40) great value IMO.

If you have an interest in #whisky then you might well enjoy this podcast. Stories about people who make whisky, where it comes from and those who drink it. Introduced by the editor of The Scotch Malt Whisky Society’s magazine, who welcomes a guest to talk their way through four or five drams - many havering after the 5th 😂. I particularly enjoyed episode #29 with Ian Rankin & #30, Norman Blake from Teenage Fanclub.
