For 10 years, I have wanted to do something wine-related at a White Castle. In fact, when a high school classmate won a lifetime supply of sliders, I reached out to him about it and he put me in touch with WC Corporate, but they wanted a lot of legal requirements met and script approval. Script approval?!? Anyone who has ever been to any of my events know it's pure improv. So unfortunately that never happened.

Last night, I found myself in a White Castle (by design) for their Valentine's Day "Love Castle" annual promo. I brought a Love Red from Broc Cellars for my pairing experience. Bonus -- no corkage!

It was fun. It was a better 'holiday' dining experience than some places provide on a Valentine's Day or other such slammed service day. The staff was genial and I felt a lot of love in that room...couples, groups, families. There was a Dad at a nearby table who kept wistfully eyeing my bottle, but I only have so much Love to give! #wine #winepairing #whitecastle #valentinesday

Opening day is set for January 30.

This is the second time White Castle has closed a store, then opened a new one in the same neighborhood a few years later. The other was in Coney Island, where a full restaurant replaced a takeout only window.

Just used the #WhiteCastle app to order food & pick it up in the drive thru. Here's my COMPREHENSIVE #REVIEW of the experience:

Pros:
+ Perusing the menu at home is nicer than being in line under pressure
+ #GooglePay supported 💳
+ Food ready on time
+ Employee was comfortable with fulfilling online order
+ 100% order accuracy, incl. special instructions
+ Receipt via email
+ App exclusive deals

Cons:
- Minimum 15 minute lead time even though I'm only 8 minutes away
- App does not feel native
