If you're a writer like me, you're that kid who can't really afford to throw a dart but it's your last chance at anything so you go through all the couch cushions and under the football bleachers to scrape together enough nickels to afford to throw one dart.

I'm not sitting out there complaining - I'm looking for nickels and hoping some will get tossed my way.

More often than not, I can’t bring myself to criticize the right, because it’s so big, dumb, and obvious that I don’t see the point. So I concentrate on the minutia of the left in areas I think we can, and must, improve. I’m not MORE critical of the left, it’s just that I mostly dismiss the right out of hand. The left seems manageable and fixable, whereas the right does not.

If that makes any sense.

@Jackie Writing is a way of navigating the interior, a means for exploring the internal thoughts that might otherwise remain uncertain, niggling little pieces of thinking. Writing can surface thoughts and provide opportunity to mull them over in more detail, from different angles. When not writing, I feel a bit disconnected from myself. (note: #whyiwrite is a query prompt used each year in US for the National Day on Writing, which took place last month)

How to keep writing when you feel like your stories are being ignored? Hard to say. For me, when I write I do so to keep myself entertained first and foremost. I do the job because it is the job I want to do. When I don't want to do it, I don't do it. That's why there's not been a new romance novel from me in a bit, but it doesn't mean that I've given up romance as a genre. I think soon I'll enough round tuits to get back to it. Hopefully!
