Last night I mentioned to my husband some passing comment about women in tech and inequality and my nine year old daughter asked me why I would be treated differently working with computers just because I'm a girl.

I did my best to explain to her some of the bias I have faced as a woman working in tech - and also how much support I've gotten for the same.

She was especially confused when I tried to talk about how some well meaning people are trying to be supportive when they say things like "yeah but it's so much better than it used to be" but how that isn't really that helpful since it's still problematic.

And then I told her ultimately, despite the challenges, I wouldn't trade my skills for any other job, and that she should go into tech too. Support young women in tech. Support women in tech! Encourage more women to get into tech!!

@oj thank you! i have my exam scheduled for Dec 31 :) i feel the same—i tried one summer just out of curiosity and got completely hooked. pretty much like infosec, no joke, haha. i think it’s that puzzle/problem solving aspect that brings me back to it, beyond the obvious physical challenges. and yes, i can do ropes, but my heart is on boulders. that’s awesome to know! maybe i can do a first experiment at the #wicys conference in march and see how that goes 😊🧗‍♀️

Hello #infosec folks. I'm feeling pretty super depressed for missing a CFP for the 2023 #wicys conference and have a few things I think *might* be interesting to share at #hacker or #cybersecurity conferences...are there any conferences I should think about submitting to that have an open CFP right now?

I'm not saying I have something interesting to say, but I'd certainly love to submit an abstract or two to see if they're of interest to anyone. Topics are #careeradvancement , #quantumcomputing -enabled #cybersecurity, and learning cybersecurity concepts (and advancing mental health) through #threatmodeling and #risk analysis.

Feedback on topics is welcome
