Encountered some #fungi during our walk at #Kirroughtree yesterday, and explained to our 7yo about the #mycorrhizal network. Looking for a textbook on the subject, I came across the name Paul Stamets, which, having watched #startrekdiscovery, struck me as just too much of a coincidence. Seems the contemporary expert influenced the whole #sporedrive plotline, and the Lt Cmdr was named after him in tribute! Hence the #MerlinSheldrake book I saw in #wigtown today referencing both!

Visited The Bookshop in Wigtown earlier this week. Whilst browsing I picked up this early Penguin edition (1960 reprint of the 1950 Edition) copy of Tortilla Flat, by John Steinbeck.

Tucked away inside was this lovely hand drawn bookmark. The paper used feels aged, so suspect (but can’t be sure) it’s from the original owner.

Just a lovely wee link with the past, and keep finding myself imaging the story, people and family behind the note.
