There’s a more general issue here, too, in that every new open construction scheme from Segal to #WikiHouse (and I include #OSHW projects here as well) seems to propose a new fundamental module, gauge standard or logic of connection. By contrast, what makes (e.g.) the Japanese tatami system or the US wall-stud convention work is that they’re effectively universal. I feel like convening the world’s open-construction heads & locking them in a room until they agree on an interoperability standard.
