Friendly reminder that #WikisWorld :wikisworld: welcomes people who want to post in any language or multiple languages. We've tried to build out our moderation team to cover the languages we see more and then rely on automated translation / trusted friends for the rest.
Here's the July #WikisWorld update: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikis_World/2023-07
A security reminder, new emoji and more! :blobfoxcomputerowonotice:

‼️ We are planning to change the default license to CC BY-SA 4.0 (from 3.0), please read the update for details.
#WikisWorld is temporarily limiting federation with mastodon.social due to a large spambot wave.
April marks six months of #WikisWorld! Time flies when you're having fun.
Our monthly update has been published: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikis_World/2023-04
Thanks to everyone who has made this server a success. Here's to the next six months!
Welcome to our newest #WikisWorld moderator, @anticomposite :)
Among other roles, he's a Wikimedia Steward, a Commons admin and also speaks a bit of French (fr-2).
Please feel free to bug him with all your moderator requests!
Happy March! Our monthly #WikisWorld update has been published: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikis_World/2023-03
The main thing you need to know is that we created a new announcements account - this one! Follow it to stay up to date with the latest news :)
We've set up a new account for #WikisWorld :wikisworld: announcements and news at @announcements. Give it a follow so you stay up to date.
And in case you missed the announcement earlier this month, Wikis World is now fiscally hosted by the Open Collective Foundation. If you're able to, consider donating here: https://opencollective.com/wikis-world. The plan is to use the funds for technical needs, like paying for our hosting provider and for the domain registration.
Excited to announce that #WikisWorld is now fiscally hosted by the #OpenCollective Foundation and accepting donations: https://opencollective.com/wikis-world
The money will go towards hosting costs and then some legal things we need to take care of. I'm mostly excited because this is a huge step in evolving from a few individuals' hobby project to a (hopefully) sustainable long-term service.
Some more details on this and other news in this month's update: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikis_World/2023-02
Debating whether to start #WikisWorld role accounts for #WikimediaNYC, #Wikispore, and maybe #EvilRobotWikipedia.

We've applied a change to #WikisWorld that will highlight images lacking alt-text with a yellow border.
Alt-text is important because it allows blind users to know what an image is about/shows.
See <https://fedi.tips/mastodon-and-fediverse-accessibility-tips/> for more details.
Thanks to @LucasWerkmeister for working on the implementation and pushing us to add it :)
Also added some general tips for posting: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikis_World#Content - again, please edit/expand/adjust :)
I'm mostly uncertain about the CW recommendations.
The original tips were written by @eloquence (thanks!) which I modified a bit and posted on-wiki.
I added a short FAQ to the #WikisWorld wiki page based on what people have been asking me when getting started, please edit/expand/adjust based on your own experiences!
In #WikisWorld news, @LucasWerkmeister is now a moderator and will especially help boost our language coverage.
Thanks Lucas for volunteering!

Added some :barnstar: emojis to #WikisWorld, tried to pick those that will look reasonable/distinguishable at smaller sizes - just ask if you want more added!
in theory, this one spins: :tireless_barnstar: !
cc @taavi @legoktm @LucasWerkmeister, you need to do something about the emoji situation at #WikisWorld!
