The female plant of the native Clematis, Virginia Creeper. I'm tempted to get it into the garden but it would need to be tamed.
The flowers are very popular with insects and hummingbirds. The ripe seedheads resemble those of dandelions.

Evening Primrose with a tiny bonus bug.
Their flowers provide food for insects, especially for moths at night, while the seeds are sought after by Goldfinches and Redpolls during both fall and then spring migration.

A few images of cornflower in the meadows at one of my local woods.
It's a newly planted woodland where 600k native trees were planted by volunteers on farmland to reconnect 5 relatively small ancient woods.
Species that were said to be extinct in Herts are now thriving there, with more than 80 bird & 29 butterfly species recorded to date. It's a great example of how quickly nature can recover with the right ingredients.
It's now 15yrs old. ♥️

Some ponds have these yellow patches of flowers growing in the water. They are Bladderworts (Urticularia cornuta), a carnivorous plant. They trap daphnia and small fish fry in bladders underwater.

The Wild Sarsaparilla (Aralia nudicaulis) grows in the understory of Maple forests. The flower balls are hidden under the leaves. There will be purple berries in the fall.

Another little wildflower from Ontario's forests (and my garden in this case): Rose-twisted Stalk (Streptopus lanceolatus). The pink bells hang from a zigzag stalk, close to the ground.
Later, the Robins will park their kids here under the leaves so they can pluck off the red berries dangling in front of their beaks. Hard work for the little ones.

The Nodding Trilliums (Trillium cernuum) are blooming. The flowers are well hidden unter the leaves, with camera on the ground being the only way to see them like this.
