Just been given a bag of wild garlic. I've never used it before. I don't want to just pesto it (I also made a ton of pesto the other day) so want to dinnerise it. Wife suggests "something with beans and potatoes" which is NOT very helpful. Suggestions welcome!

Plucked some #wildgarlic with the kids near our house and made some #pesto with nuts and tofu.
Of course they don’t eat it and I do not really like the aftertaste in my mouth.

The wild garlic is really growing strong now the longer and warmer days are here. It won't be long before the flowers bloom. I pick a little off the leafs and put them in stew and things at this time of year. When the flowers come I make salads with them and they are so good with anything.

Very young arum leaves lack the typical spots and barbs at the base of the stem, which is why they are sometimes confused with wild garlic. But they're easily to distinguish: Arum show an irregular veining! #Wildgarlic has parallel leaf veins.

Tha latter grow without a stem from a rosette in the ground and also often enclose a large, green fruit capsule. Unlike #wildgarlic leaves, they are almost stiff and shiny on both sides - the underside of bear's garlic leaves is rather dull.

#Wildgarlic (left) seems to grow "straight out of the ground" and has a clearly recognisable stem. Lily of the valley (right), on the other hand, usually sprouts two leaves from a rhizome - and they form a pseudo-stem.

Moments in the valley last spring. This will be a few weeks from now. Illustrating how we can go from deep winter to early spring in such a quick movement. The weather is always to play for but we are on track to see the bluebells and the wild garlic blossom around march-april time. this year. The fairer the weather the better chances we have of seeing early blooms.
