Nothing more lovely than watching David Attenborough giggle with glee and wish a shearwater good luck as it takes off for the first time.

🧵 2/2: Now 'Saving our ' is available on the (not on air) as an 'extra', it is very clear it was shot by the same prod company, shared many shots and crucially was entirely narrated by himself, making it indistinguishable in style & delivery from the previous episodes. So yes, the reported correctly: " will not broadcast Attenborough episode over fear of ‘rightwing backlash’ . . Watch it 👉🏽 bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p0fd

🧵 1/2: You may remember the claiming it hadn't banned the last episode of by Sir David from broadcast because of its content, saying instead the 6th EP either 'did not exist' or was a separate commission. This artificial technical separation already looked shoddy once you saw the entire 6 EP series was delivered by a single company, SilverbackFilms.

...“The politically acceptable is ecologically disastrous, while the ecologically necessary is politically impossible.”

The thinking outlined in Wild Isles #6 is antithetical to political orthodoxy both right and left. And therein lies the problem.

Has anyone watched the final on (the one that was banned from being broadcast)?

Aside from an implied critique of I really can't see why it could have been seen to be controversial.

What did I miss? Certainly wasn't as hard-hitting on as I have seen other programmes to be....

The Saving Our Wild Isles documentary on bbc iplayer was really good, really showed what people can do and already are doing to help protect nature. It really should have been shown as part of the series on TV so more people saw it.

As Sir David Attenborough said ‘we have just enough time and just enough nature left’
