I have even more #respect today for #wildland #firefighters after trying to work outside in #Eugene #Oregon when the smoke from numerous small/medium fires descends on the southern #WillametteValley.

Even with a KN95 mask, breathing in this level of smoke is a chore. I cannot imagine what breathing while fighting the fires must be like.

In this screengrab from https://map.purpleair.com/1/mAQI/a10/p604800/cC0#10.23/44.0259/-123.15 you can see the readings from private sensor stations. Anything over 150 is rough, some are now hitting 300.

So as a has been wildland firefighter dude, I have to admit they did a verry good job telling this story.

@netrom I'm retired so for me it's something i enjoy coming from a tech background. Joanna Rutkowska is brilliant and i find her, Qubes, those working on it, and her new project #Wildland inspiring.

If i were working in #infosec and relied on a #monolithic #kernel without the #isolation #Qubes offers, i suspect i wouldn't sleep as well at night depending on my job. ;)

I think it's a great tool / option for anyone in #security.

I believe we can do something about it if we #advance our focus to include #open, #verifiable #hardware which at present we sorely lack in most scenarios.
